Message from the Prez November 07
Greetings Heisey Hunters – Where has the time gone? It’s almost Thanksgiving already. Perhaps the extremely mild fall has tricked our minds, or maybe the delay in Daylight Savings has broken an old habit. Oh well, the mild weather has made for better opportunities to visit the area flea markets and antique shops for those ever-lurking sleepers. When I was in Newark for the Percy Moore Dinner, SOMEONE showed up with a #11 Canterbury candlestick. Seems they’d been driving into town and stopped at a shop along the way, and down on a low shelf, eureka, a previously unseen Heisey candlestick. I believe it was going to be loaned to the museum for display, so look for it next time you’re in Newark. Speaking of Newark, the HCA board, museum staff and volunteers have done a fantastic job reorganizing the displays. It really is impressive. No matter how many times I go through there, I always see things I hadn’t noticed before, or didn’t know Heisey made. If you’ve never been, it certainly is a worthwhile trip for Heisey enthusiasts. Final notes – get out that fall and Holiday Heisey, show it off and share it with your friends. If you have a favorite piece you use around the home, please share it with the club at the TJ Library on the 10th. We’ll be featuring Heisey Around the Home. The business meeting will be a brief update on the preparations for the 36th Annual All-Heisey show, which are well underway. It should be a great show, and volunteers are always appreciated. Let’s get the word out, and if you have any websites or Antique journals where we can promote the show let John or me know. See you in Falls Church,
Ted Sheets,
President
