| Message from the Prez April 08 Greetings Heisey Hunters – As I sit down to write this, the 36th Annual All-Heisey Show is behind us. There are still some lingering administrative tasks to finish up and document, but from the initial accounting, it appears we had a very successful show. Attendance of new folks was up from last year, with 76 people registering who had not attended before. Overall attendance was down, with about 40 regulars not showing up. I'm sure some of that was to be expected with Palm Sunday and normal attrition, but it does indicated the need to step back and look at the future and where we want this show to go. I know we had folks from the West Coast, Gulf Coast, Midwest and New England taking home some precious treasures. Reports from dealers indicated robust sales. There were also some outstanding items that dealers had on display, including a Krall cut vase and an all Moongleam Optic Tooth 10" vase. We'll have lots of pictures posted on the website soon, but only a few in this newsletter. The Name-That-Pattern contest for the 1000 Marmalade generated a few chuckles when we received a nomination for the MARMADUKE marmalade. Has a nice ring, but somehow, I doubt the HCA would have approved it anyway. So, with a clear majority of votes, I was happy to submit to the HCA the clear winner, the Maezene. At home, it’s time to do some rearranging, as we picked up a few items ourselves and need to find the perfect spot for display. There isn’t much time between the All Heisey Benefit Auction on April 4th & 5th and Convention in June. We’ll be taking a break before starting the planning for the 37th All-Heisey Show in 2009! On a sad note, just before the Show, I received a call from Dr. Frank Husted, who has been a dealer for many years. He wasn’t feeling well and wanted to inform me they wouldn’t be making it down from Pennsylvania to set up their booth. I have subsequently learned of his passing and want to extend my condolences to his wife Elaine and to the Heisey community at large, as he has contributed much over the years. He and his literary entries in the Heisey News will be missed. See you in Potomac
