Message from the Prez

April 05

Boy, I’m exhausted! First I would like to thank everyone who helped set up, tear down, and work the show. Every year it seams to go smoother than the last. Thanks to Bryan Baker and Russ Reopell for setting up a Hospitality Table for all our dealers. It was a roaring success! Thanks to Laura Hartman and her uncle Chris, for taking care of the sandwiches for the dealers. It was a huge job. Last but certainly not least, thanks to all our dealers. Without you, there is no show.

Despite the best efforts of our local weathermen to scare everyone away with the prediction of snow, attendance was up for the 33rd Annual All Heisey Show and Sale. This was due in no small part to the Herculean advertising efforts of our V.P., Chris Hartman. All of the numbers are not in yet, so I’ll give you a report in the May Heisey Herald.

News from sickbay is not good. Both Elaine and Frank Husted are sick, and had to miss the show. Just when we were coming to terms with that, we found out Dick Schwan fell down and broke his hip! Thankfully, Phil and Sally Abrams were able to fill in for the Schwan’s. Many of our dealers and customers were asking after both the Husted’s and the Schwan’s and wanted me to pass along their well wishes for your speedy recoveries. We all missed you and expect to see you at next years show!

Congratulations to Martha Best of Clarksville, MD, for winning the show Door Prize, a No. 1626 Satellite 7” Crimped Nappy with a satin finished foot. It was part of the original Heisey inventory when Imperial bought the company!

Welcome to the club Vetris Lamb of North East, PA; Edward Morin of Worchester, MA; and Jay and Phyllis Eshleman of Lititz, PA, all of whom joined at the show.

Our March meeting fell on the Monday after the show this year, with special guest attendees George Fogg and Frank Mahoney, of Berkeley Antiques. We got a lot of business done with the major news being we will hold every other meeting in Virginia next year on Saturday afternoons, with our Maryland meetings remaining the same. Bryan Baker and Russ Reopell will host the inaugural meeting at their home next October. Look for more info on the VA meetings in future Heralds and our web site.

See ya at the next meeting,

John Martinez - The Prez
