With the onset of winter, work and the Show, we
haven’t been out doing many road trips to hunt Heisey. Let’s hope that when the
weather breaks, the dealers will have restocked their shelf with some new
treasures for us to find.
We were up in Frederick, Maryland and stopped in
a shop briefly, where my eyes were treated to an Orchid etched vase we didn’t
have. Notice the word didn’t. Check #4192 off the wish list.
And I want to carry on the fine tradition of Carl Sporacio, and report a sighting of Heisey in Hooterville.
While watching Green Acres the other night (it was on while fixing dinner), in
the background behind Eddie Albert was a HUGE Heisey Oil Lamp. “B” font, plain
as day. I guess the prop guys in Hollywood used what they had laying around in 11965.
Funny thing was though... we watched a few night later to get an episode number
and the lamp was different. We’ll keep watching for Heisey, but maybe not Green
Acres.
Plans are being finalized for the 35th Annual All
Heisey Show and Sale. It should be a great time, and I’ve had confirming
messages from folks coming in from across the country. Our March meeting in
Fairfax has a little extra time to cover show prep, and then Russ’s program on
Weird, Wonderful, Whatzits and Whimsies.
See you at the Thomas Jefferson Library at 1:00
on Saturday March 10th, then in Gaithersburg, and bring a friend or two.
