| Message from the Prez February 07 Greetings Heisey Hunters, Winter finally arrived in the Washington area after a rather mild start. Record temperatures through early January even brought out Cherry Blossoms along the Potomac, and extended the season for road trips to find new glass in the hinterlands. This, of course, prevented us from the usual tasks of rearranging the displays to make room for and better display of those precious new items. We’re somewhat at a loss these days to find room, and choosing which items to leave out vs. pack away. John did a superb job, as always, with an impressive array of punch cups at the January meeting. We welcomed two visitors, Mike Payne and Merle Tigert, to join our Heisey club, after the Warrens had spent some time with them at the Big Flea explaining the virtues of Heisey. Speaking of the Big Flea, we had another rousing success, with hundreds of visitors, some old friends, some new friends, and what I hope is a substantial number who will join us in Gaithersburg to get a full perspective of the variety of Heisey. The 35th Annual All Heisey Show and Sale is progressing nicely, with all booths filled even after several dealers had to pass this year for a variety of reasons. We are pleased to welcome back the Marshes, and Jean Will and the Pescatores will be coming to our show after years of doing the Convention. On a sad note, we need to mention the passing of one of our dealers, Jim Houghton, from Whitewolf, Ltd. We offer on our sympathies to his family, friends and associates, especially his partner in Whitewolf, Tim Rector. We understand they were not joining us this year because they had just moved into a new house. We hope to see you in Potomac for the February meeting, where Maezene will show us the Heisey Colognes. Happy Heisey Hunting!
Ted Sheets,
President
